INSTITUTE OF GOVERNMENT
LIBRARY SECTION
Many California librarians will be taking time off from regular duties next week, June 14th to 18th, to attend panel discussions, lectures and round table conferences on librarianship at the University of Southern California. These assemblies are part of the courses of study offered by the Ninth Annual Institute of Government. This is the first time a section devoted to the library field has been included for a full week in this intensive study of governmental functions.
Since the Institute as a whole tends toward the professionalizing of public service, the program has been arranged with government relationship in view. Speakers from outside the library field have been called on to help expand librarians' ideas on trends of government and administrative problems such as the selection of personnel.
